_I trained in linguistics and psychology and taught Second Language Acquisition for a number of years in Sydney, Tokyo, Seoul and Tianjin, China. I have also been lucky enough to travel and work in over 40 different countries- my favourites being Italy, Vietnam and Turkey-, which not surprisingly base a good bit of their culture on food. I have fond memories of cooking in people's homes, buying fresh produce at local markets and enjoying amazing meals with people as we tried to communicate in different languages. Yes I travel on my stomach, basing my itinerary on where to see, experience and eat local food. I have been fortunate enough to now turn that into a career, marrying my love of food, other cultures and languages into food writing for magazines and other publications.
